Booking guide

Everything behind your quote.

Solo or quartet? Which package? Why that price? When you build a booking, your estimate comes from three simple choices — your ensemble, your package, and where you are. Here's what each one means, in plain language.

01 · The package

How long do we play?

Pick a length — we build the day around it. We play weddings, special events, and corporate functions, all on the same three-length structure.

About 60 min

One focused set — a ceremony, a proposal, an intimate gathering.

About 90 min

The main moment — and the celebration after, on live strings.

About 120 min

A longer celebration, with a short rest for the players.

*Ceremony covers the processional, entrance, and recessional. Need longer? Add 30-minute blocks at a flat per-block rate (see Pricing).

02 · The ensemble

How many musicians?

Every ensemble is fully prepared for your event, so the sound is right at any size — you never have to worry about which one you choose. What changes is the fullness of the sound: more players means richer harmony, more presence in a large room, and a higher rate.

1 Musician

String Solo

Solo violin or cello

A single voice carrying the melody. The most intimate option — pure, exposed, and quietly moving.

Best for Proposals, elopements, intimate dinners
2 Musicians

String Duo

Violin & cello

Melody over a warm bass line. Noticeably fuller than a solo while staying intimate and uncluttered.

Best for Small ceremonies, dinner parties, milestone celebrations
3 Musicians

String Trio

Violin, viola & cello

True three-part harmony with a rounded middle. A well-balanced sound for most rooms.

Best for Mid-size ceremonies, receptions, corporate functions
4 Musicians

String Quartet

Two violins, viola & cello

The complete, classic string sound — rich, resonant, and able to fill a large or outdoor space. The sound that carries the biggest rooms.

Best for Full weddings, galas, large or outdoor venues
03 · The price

How your quote is built.

Your estimate is simply ensemble × package — plus any extra time. One rate across all four Texas metros; no hidden fees. Beyond that, only three things can ever be added, and each is spelled out in your agreement: the travel fee below if your venue sits beyond a 60-mile round trip of the nearest hub; any mandatory venue charge such as paid parking, valet or a gate fee, which is yours to cover; and a custom arrangement you ask us to prepare, which we quote and you approve in writing first.

All four metros share the same rate card. Wedding package pricing shown; other events are quoted on the same structure.

Pick the size and the length — the grid at left is the base price for that pairing.

Region

One rate across Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. Somewhere else in Texas? We still travel — just ask for a quote.

Additional time

Need longer? Add performance time in 30-minute blocks. Each block is a flat fee by ensemble — $65 solo · $125 duo · $190 trio · $250 quartet — the same for every block, so the cost rises evenly and never compounds.

Travel

Included within a 60-mile round trip of Cedar Park City Hall (78613), Downtown Dallas (75202), Downtown San Antonio (78205), or Downtown Houston (77002) — whichever is nearest your venue. Beyond that, a fee applies per musician, in 20-mile bands: $25 · $40 · $55 · $70 · $85 · $105. Past 120 miles beyond, we'll quote it for you.

04 · The music

Your cue sheet, your way.

When you book, you build a cue sheet — the running order of what we play, moment by moment. Start from a curated set, pull from our repertoire, or request something of your own. The number of songs grows with your package.

Curated sets

New to this? Begin with a ready-made program — timeless classical, modern romance, or a blend — and adjust from there.

Browse the repertoire

Search a 190+ piece library by classical or popular, then drag songs into each moment of your event.

Song count by package

The ceremony itself takes 11 pieces — prelude 5, processional 3, recessional 1, postlude 2. Ceremony covers those 11; Ceremony + Cocktail adds a 5-piece cocktail hour (16); Ceremony + Extended Cocktail a 10-piece one (21).The same counts apply to any event.

Have a piece that isn't on the list? We arrange custom requests — a first dance, a key toast, or any moment that means something.

FAQ

Common questions

The details couples ask about most. Anything else — reach us any time through the Contact page.

BookingLead times, rescheduling, what happens after you send a request
How far in advance should I book?

Now booking weddings and events for 2026–2028. Reserve your date early to ensure the availability of your preferred ensemble and services. Contact us to check availability and begin planning your perfect soundtrack.

Can I reschedule?

Yes — ask in writing at least 30 days before your date. If our schedule allows, we agree the new date in writing and carry everything you’ve paid over to it. The new date is priced at the rates and travel fee in effect at that time, so if those are higher, only the difference is added to your balance. Rescheduling is allowed once, and the new date must fall within twelve months of your original one. A second request — or no new date agreed in writing within 30 days of your request — is treated as a cancellation as of the day you asked.

If we ever have to cancel for a reason that isn’t on your side and isn’t a force-majeure event, we do everything possible to arrange a replacement ensemble first — and if we cannot perform, we start your full refund, retainer included, within seven days.

What happens to my song selections if I leave the page?

While your browser tab stays open, everything is held there for you — your date, package, and song list. You can refresh the page, go browse our full repertoire, move between pages, or come back hours later, and your selections will still be waiting. There’s no time limit.

But this is temporary storage inside your own browser, never on our servers, so the moment you close that tab — or quit your browser — it’s cleared for good. If you’ve spent time building a song list, send your request before you close it.

What happens after I send a booking request?

Nothing is charged and nothing is locked in yet — a request is a request. Here is the order of things:

  • You get an email confirming what you asked for.
  • We check the date and write back. If it’s open, that email brings your retainer amount and your booking link, and your agreement arrives to sign online.
  • Once you’ve signed, the payment details open on the same link. Your date is reserved when the retainer has reached us.
  • Your Music Planner link follows by email, so you can shape the program at your own pace — final selections are due 30 days before the event.
When is my date actually confirmed?

Two things reserve it: the signed agreement and the booking retainer — 20% of your total, due when you sign. Until both are with us the date stays open, and we confirm on a first-confirmed, first-paid basis, so a date can still go to another couple while an unsigned agreement sits in an inbox.

Can my planner handle the details?

Yes. Name your planner or coordinator in writing and we’ll work with them directly on logistics and take their word on the day. Two things stay with you: the agreement is signed by one main contact, and only you can cancel, reschedule or amend it — unless you’ve authorized your planner in writing to do that too.

Ensembles & packagesWhich size, which length, overtime
How many musicians should I hire? Which ensemble is best?

It depends on your budget, venue size, and guest count. Contact us with your details and we’ll gladly recommend the right fit. We perform string instruments only. To compare sizes and sounds, see our ensemble guide.

Can I request a specific musician?

You book an ensemble — solo, duo, trio or quartet — and we assign the players, so no individual musician is promised. Every performer we assign is prepared for your program and your setting. If someone becomes unavailable, we first seek a professionally qualified replacement at no change to your total. If an emergency on the day itself leaves no replacement in time, we may perform with a smaller ensemble and refund the difference in price within seven days after your event.

Which packages do you offer?

Three lengths for any kind of event, plus a 45-minute option for marriage proposals:

For weddings

  • Ceremony (60 min) — 30-minute prelude, then the ceremony and postlude.
  • Ceremony + Cocktail (90 min) — adds 30 minutes of cocktail-hour music.
  • Ceremony + Extended Cocktail (120 min) — adds a full hour of cocktail-hour music.

For every other event

  • 60, 90 or 120 minutes of live music, shaped around your run of show — a dinner, a reception, a private party, a corporate evening.
  • Marriage proposal (45 min) — one focused set, built around the moment itself.

Minimum booking: 60 minutes — or 45 minutes for a marriage proposal.

What does overtime cost if my event runs long?

We’ll happily keep playing up to 10 extra minutes at no charge. Beyond that, on-the-day overtime is billed in 15-minute blocks at the overtime rate written in your agreement — $40 solo · $75 duo · $115 trio · $150 quartet per block — and every block counts from your contracted end time, not from the end of the 10 free minutes. Overtime on the day is capped at 30 minutes in total; if you know in advance you’ll want more, add 30-minute blocks when you book instead.

Example: for a set contracted to end at 2:00 PM, playing to 2:10 costs nothing. From 2:11 the first block applies and it runs 2:00–2:15, so playing to 2:16 is two blocks. We always try to accommodate on-the-day extensions, but availability depends on our performers’ schedules that day. Overtime is invoiced after the event and due within 3 days, and we may ask for payment when we accept the request on the day.

The musicRepertoire, how many pieces, custom arrangements, your Music Planner
What kind of music do you play?

Our ever-growing repertoire features classical, contemporary, pop, film, and Bollywood favorites, with new selections added every year. If you don’t see your special song on our list, just let us know — we’re happy to accommodate custom requests whenever possible.

How many pieces do I need to choose?

It varies by package. A typical one-hour Ceremony set includes about 5 prelude pieces, 3 processional, 1 recessional, and 2 postlude selections.

Can you arrange a custom song?

If a piece is already published and available for your ensemble, there’s no arranging fee. For a brand-new custom arrangement, we commission our arranger — pricing depends on the song’s length and instrumentation.

Do we get to talk it through with you?

Yes — one video or phone consultation is included, at a time that suits you. Anything else you need answered, write to us any time; further consultations depend on our schedule and may carry a fee.

I can’t find my Music Planner link.

Go to the Music Planner access page, enter the email on your booking, and we’ll send the link again. Anything you’ve already saved is kept — and you can always reply to any of our emails to adjust it.

On the dayArrival, attire, equipment, playing outdoors, weather
What do you need from me before the day?

A short list, all of it set out in your agreement:

  • 30 days before — your final music selections and, if it was still open, your confirmed start time. If the selections haven’t reached us by then, we choose fitting repertoire for your event and that program stands; requests after the deadline are at our discretion and may carry an arrangement fee.
  • 21 days before — anything your venue requires of vendors: a certificate of insurance, an additional-insured endorsement, vendor registration, load-in restrictions, noise ordinances. We carry general liability and errors-and-omissions cover and send a certificate on request; any fee or extra premium the venue requires is approved by you in advance.
  • 14 days before — your final written timeline, your balance, and for an outdoor ceremony the written confirmation of your backup location.
  • 7 days before — the last day to tell us in writing if you’d rather we didn’t use photos of you.

Late notice of a venue requirement can stop us performing on a date we’re otherwise ready for, so send it the moment your venue sends it to you.

When do you arrive?

We need safe, unobstructed access to the exact spot we’re playing at least 30 minutes before the start time — that half hour is unloading, seating, tuning and listening to the room. Please let your coordinator know we’ll be there early. If access is delayed by the venue or by the day’s schedule, our contracted end time doesn’t move and the fee stays the same, so those minutes come out of the music.

What do the musicians wear?

All black — the customary concert attire for performers.

Do we need to feed the musicians?

No. Meals aren’t part of the agreement and we don’t expect one.

What equipment should the venue provide?
  • One armless chair per musician (we bring our own music stands).
  • Enough space to set up — typically 4–5 ft between chairs, depending on the arrangement: enough room to bow comfortably while still seeing and hearing each other.
  • All instruments are acoustic (no power needed). If you’d like a bigger sound, the client provides microphones and amplification.
  • A level, stable, clean, dry and non-slip surface to sit on — a firm floor, deck or paved patio. Firm, level grass or gravel works too; soft, uneven or wet ground does not. For outdoor events, please also provide protection from direct sun, strong wind, and rain (see the outdoor questions below).
Do the musicians take a break?

For performances longer than 60 minutes, the ensemble takes a five-minute break after each continuous 45 minutes of playing, included within the contracted performance time (it never extends your end time). For a 90-minute package that’s one short pause to retune and reset — about 85 minutes of music; a 120-minute package has two, and a longer engagement gets a break for each 45-minute stretch.

My venue is large — do you provide speakers or microphones?

Our instruments are fully acoustic, and we don’t supply amplification ourselves. If you or your venue provide a sound system, we’ll check it on the day and use it when it’s safe, suitable and properly set up — that call stays with us, so please make sure whoever supplies it has it working before we arrive.

Do you perform outside?

Yes, we love outdoor celebrations! Because our instruments are handcrafted from wood, they’re sensitive to rain, heat, cold, and direct sun. So that we can play beautifully and safely, we ask couples planning an outdoor event to provide a suitable performance space:

  • Rain or wind — a dry spot under a waterproof roof: an indoor room, or an outdoor shelter with solid walls or waterproof sidewalls on at least three sides so rain can’t blow in. (Umbrellas, tree cover, and open pergolas or gazebos don’t count as rain protection.)
  • Heat & sun — continuous shade over the performers and instruments that keeps working as the sun moves (a pergola, gazebo, tent, or covered patio is fine), with the temperature where we play no higher than 95°F. No direct sunlight on the musicians or instruments at any time.
  • Cold — a space kept at 55°F or above, with protection from wind. Cold makes both instruments and fingers unplayable. (So the playable range is 55–95°F.)

For an outdoor ceremony your agreement asks you to identify a suitable indoor (or fully sheltered) backup location and confirm it to us in writing at least 14 days before the event — it’s a requirement, not just a suggestion, because it’s what lets us play no matter what the sky does. As long as there’s a proper space for us, we’ll be right there playing as planned — and we’re always happy to talk through your venue’s options ahead of time.

What if suitable conditions aren’t available on the day?

If on the day there’s no compliant space for us because the backup wasn’t arranged or the conditions on your side don’t meet the agreement, and we can’t perform safely, the booking still counts as fulfilled and the full contract amount remains due — which is exactly why we ask every couple to have that indoor backup ready. A genuine force-majeure event is different and is handled under the next question. Where conditions are marginal, we’ll always try — at our discretion — to relocate to a suitable spot on-site or play a shortened set to be part of your day.

What happens in severe weather or an emergency?

When something beyond anyone’s control actually prevents the event from going ahead — a hurricane, flood or severe storm, a wildfire, an evacuation order, a road closure, a public-health order — we’ll work with you in good faith. You choose, within 30 days of our asking, between rescheduling to another available date within twelve months — priced at the rates and travel fee in effect then, with everything you’ve paid carried over — or a credit for all sums paid, valid for twelve months. Because the event is nobody’s fault, the agreement provides these two remedies rather than a cash refund.

Photos & recordingYour image, your photographer’s posts
Will you post photos of our wedding?

Only if you’ve said we may. Your agreement has a box where you choose whether we may use your image, likeness and appearance on our website, social media and promotional material — either choice completes the agreement, and you can also opt out in writing up to 7 days before the event. If you change your mind later, we stop new uses and remove specific images from our own channels where we reasonably can, within 30 days of your request.

Your own photographer or videographer may post excerpts of the performance to promote their work, provided each post credits “The Noble Strings” and the performers, and they’ve agreed to that in writing. Selling or licensing the recording, paid advertising, broadcast, livestreams and monetized channels need our written consent first.

Changes & cancellationCancelling, a smaller booking, a new venue
What if I have to cancel?

Tell us in writing as soon as you know — cancellations have to be in writing, and the date we receive that notice sets what is owed.

  • More than 14 days before — the retainer stays with us. Nothing else is due, and anything you’ve paid beyond it comes back.
  • 14 to 8 days before — 50% of the base contract amount.
  • 7 days or fewer — 100% of the base contract amount.

The base contract amount is your total with all travel fees taken out — travel is never part of a cancellation charge and is refunded in full if you’ve already paid it. The retainer is non-refundable, and anything paid above the charge is refunded within 30 days of your notice.

If your plans are moving rather than ending, ask us about rescheduling first — see Can I reschedule? above.

Can I make my booking smaller?

Sometimes. A smaller ensemble, a shorter package or a reduced scope needs our written approval, because we’ve already held the date and committed performers to it. Asked less than 30 days before the event, a reduction doesn’t lower your total. Adding time or musicians is usually easier — just ask.

What if my venue changes?

Tell us in writing as soon as you know. A new venue or performance location needs our acceptance, and the travel fee is recalculated for the new address — up or down. A change that makes the engagement impracticable for us is treated as a cancellation on your side.

Payment & travelRetainer and balance, payment methods, travel fees
How does payment work?

Your booking retainer is 20% of your total, due when the agreement is signed. It reserves the date and takes it off our calendar, so it’s earned when we receive it and isn’t refundable. The remaining 80% is due no later than 14 days before your event.

There’s nothing to pay us on the day unless you ask us to keep playing — see overtime above. Any mandatory parking or entry charge at your venue is separate and yours to cover (see travel below).

If the timing of the balance is ever a problem, tell us before the due date and we’ll work it out with you.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Zelle and Venmo. Credit cards are available on request through our processor, with the processing fee added to the amount due. We do not accept checks or cash.

Is sales tax added?

No — the price quoted is your final price.

Do you charge a travel fee?

Travel within a 60-mile round trip of Cedar Park (78613), Downtown Dallas (75202), Downtown San Antonio (78205), or Downtown Houston (77002) is included. For venues beyond this distance, travel fees are calculated in 20-mile increments and apply per musician. The exact figure is confirmed once your musicians are assigned — the booking page shows a live estimate for your venue.

Mandatory venue charges — paid parking, valet, gate or entry fees for the performers — sit outside your total and are yours to cover. Send passes ahead where you can, or we pass on the actual cost with documentation.
